Donna Molin, the Island's recently retired piano teacher, is launching a new office support and bookkeeping business and announced this week that her husband, Mark, will be retiring from his interior finishing company to join her.
Called My Assistant, the Molin family business will offer freelance office support, bookkeeping and secretarial services. Ms. Molin said that she hopes the new business will fill the gap created when Executive Option closed over a year ago.
My Assistant offers a variety of office support services, as well as some documentation and computer support. Services include developing mailing lists and business cards and setting up small businesses and helping self-employed individuals with their computers.
"Bookkeeping is the basic part of our business," Ms. Molin said, and My Assistant can help with complete bookkeeping or setting up spreadsheets or other databases for small businesses. But unlike most bookkeeper and accountant services, Ms. Molin said, My Assistant will handle other office management tasks as well.
My Assistant will specialize in helping the Island's many small business contractors "to see where they're making money," Ms. Molin said. The business will also service Island organizations that need help with membership lists and multiple mailings.
The Molins will not have a retail business office, but will work on-site or will pick up and drop off work materials. In addition to the new business endeavor, Ms. Molin said that she will continue to manage the office at Georgiana B. Ketcham Real Estate (who has been a client for over 10 years). Mr. Molin is retiring from over 10 years of service at his company, Mark M. Molin Exquisitely Finished Interiors.
